Pearl’s Tearoom ticks all the afternoon tea boxes with elegant and pretty interiors, delicious food, and reasonable prices. They have the option of a classic British afternoon tea as well as the Desi Afternoon tea, the main difference between them being the savoury snacks. Angelina’s is a quirky café located in The Mill Village Outlet and although their afternoon tea is the most budget-friendly on this list, it doesn’t take away from the excellent service and food they have to offer. Afternoon teas do need to be booked beforehand and if staff are made aware of specific dietary requirements, the chef is more than happy to accommodate. The staff are extremely friendly too and this provides an overall pleasant experience.

Double Tree by Hilton, Leeds

The incredible city views from The Hilton Sky Lounge overlooking Leeds paired with the contemporary setting makes for a brilliant location for a more modern afternoon tea experience. This is an ideal location if you want to sit down for a classy afternoon tea after a day of shopping. Gujarati Kitchen, Bradford

Guajrati Kitchen in Bradford is one of the only places in Yorkshire that does a fully traditional Desi Afternoon Tea. With the likes of khaman, sweet bhajiyas, barfi, Bombay sandwiches and spring rolls gracing the stand, it is certainly authentic and something a little different. No desi experience is complete without a hot cup of chai and Gujarati Kitchen do this very nicely too. The setting at Gujarati Kitchen is relaxed and child friendly, making it an ideal location for a casual get together.

The Great Victoria Hotel, Bradford

Afternoon tea at The Great Victoria Hotel has been a AHFJ recommendation since the beginning and our readers who have tried it have only ever had good things to say. The hotel is elegant, yet calm, welcoming, and intimate for whatever the occasion may be. Their afternoon tea menus come in both Halal and Vegetarian options which just needs to be made clear at the time of booking. Snowcold Creamery, Batley

Snowcold Creamery is better known for the delicious, fresh desserts but the expansion into Afternoon Tea also hits the mark. Their wide range of sandwiches, sweet treats and scones is amplified by the extensive range of teas they have on offer. Although it is a dessert parlour, it doesn’t take away from the afternoon tea experience as tea is served during quiet hours which means the atmosphere is calm and collected. Snowcold have done well with their afternoon tea offerings and the overall experience is extremely well put-together.   

Millie’s Hayfield, Peak District

Although not strictly located in Yorkshire, Kiya – the owner of Millie’s Hayfield – is from Batley and this afternoon tea cannot be left off the list. Whilst AHFJ writers have only tried some elements of the afternoon tea menu, it speaks of volumes of what else there is to offer. Kiya is a qualified chocolatier and all the sweet elements of the afternoon tea have been carefully handcrafted by her and her team. Alongside this, the hot chocolates – which we have tried – are also made with real chocolate and their quality is outstanding. Flavours such as Ruby Chocolate make this a unique experience. Her scones are also made fresh in-house and are some of the best scones around. Millie’s is the only halal tearoom in Peak District, making it a sweet attraction for Muslim visitors. The tearoom is quirky and rustic, perfectly sitting in its surroundings.
